Import your open Safari tabs
The Linkgarden Safari extension can save every tab you have open, across all Safari windows, in a single action.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”- Open the Linkgarden app at least once, so the extension has storage to write into.
- Enable the Linkgarden extension in Safari’s settings. See Saving from Safari.
- Open the tabs you want to keep. Close the ones you don’t — everything open gets considered.
- Click the Linkgarden icon in the Safari toolbar.
- Click Import all open tabs at the bottom of the popup.
- Wait for the result screen.
Reading the result
Section titled “Reading the result”The result reads Imported N links, or Nothing to import if none of your tabs qualified. Underneath, a detail line accounts for the rest:
| Wording | Meaning |
|---|---|
N already in Linkgarden |
The tab’s address matches a bookmark you already have, or one sitting in Recently Deleted. |
N skipped |
The tab is not an http or https page (a Settings page, a local file, a blank tab), or its address is too long, or it was past the 500-item limit. |
Below that, a sync line tracks the upload to iCloud, the same as a single save.
What gets saved
Section titled “What gets saved”Each imported bookmark gets the page address and the page title, and nothing else. Folder, tags, and notes are not applied to a bulk import — assign them afterwards in the app.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”- At most 500 tabs per import. Anything beyond that is counted as skipped.
- Page titles longer than 300 characters are truncated.
- Addresses longer than 2048 characters are skipped.
How duplicates are detected
Section titled “How duplicates are detected”Linkgarden compares the scheme and host case-insensitively and ignores the
#fragment. The query string counts — example.com/a and
example.com/a?ref=x are two different bookmarks.
