Limits and defaults
Bookmarks
Section titled “Bookmarks”| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Tags per bookmark | 5 |
| Folders per bookmark | 1 |
| Recently Deleted retention | 30 days |
| Address schemes accepted | http, https |
Once a bookmark has five tags, its Add Tag button disappears and dropping a sixth tag on it shows “Tag Limit Reached.”
A bookmark that is completely blank — no name, no address, no notes — is deleted permanently rather than moved to Recently Deleted. A folder or tag assignment does not count as content for this purpose.
Expired items are swept at app launch, not on a timer.
Folders and tags
Section titled “Folders and tags”| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Default colour | #007AFF (blue) |
| Name uniqueness | Case-insensitive, per type |
| Order | Manual, by drag; new items go to the top |
| Colour presets | Blue, Purple, Pink, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Graphite |
Folder names must be unique among folders and tag names unique among tags; a folder and a tag may share a name.
Automatic page title
Section titled “Automatic page title”When a bookmark has an address but no name, Linkgarden fetches the page and
fills the name from its <title>.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Request timeout | 8 seconds |
| Bytes read | Up to 128 KB, or until </title> |
| Maximum title length | 300 characters |
| Content type required | text/html |
A title containing non-ASCII characters is not used. Page encodings cannot always be determined reliably, and rather than risk filling the field with garbled text Linkgarden leaves it empty for you to type.
Anything you type wins: if you enter a name while a fetch is in flight, the fetched title is discarded.
Automatic favicon
Section titled “Automatic favicon”When a bookmark with an address is shown and has no icon yet, Linkgarden looks for the page’s favicon.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Request timeout | 8 seconds |
HTML read for <link rel="icon"> tags |
Up to 128 KB |
| Maximum icon size | 100 KB |
| Candidates tried | 3 |
| Concurrent fetches | 6 |
Candidates are tried in order: apple-touch-icon first, then the largest
declared sizes, then any remaining declared icon, then /favicon.ico.
A fetch that finds nothing is not retried for that bookmark while the app stays open. Changing a bookmark’s address clears its icon and starts a fresh look-up.
If no icon is found, the bookmark shows a monogram — the first letter of its
name, else the first letter of its host, else ?.

| Native message timeout | 5 seconds (15 for a tab import) |
